“Light Carnival” Themed Market enriches travel experience

Jointly organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and local community organizations, the series of activities entitled “Tour Macao FUN Fair” officially commenced last month and gained much popularity among residents and visitors. To steer community tourism and economy forward, the Tour Macao FUN Fair roll outs another fun-filled activity of the series – the “Light Carnival” Themed Market at the seaside next to Macao Science Center from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays between 4 December 2021 and 2 January 2022.

Synergy of mega events and community activities for greater flow of consumers
In tandem with the Macao Light Festival and the Light up Macao Drone Gala, the Tour Macao FUN Fair — “Light Carnival” Themed Market is held in symphony with these concurrent mega events to foster diversification of tourism products and deepen integration across the sectors of “tourism +”.

The series of Tour Macao FUN Fair kicked off with the “Creative and Artistic Carnival” Themed Market at the Taipa Houses last month. Following that, the “Light Carnival” Themed Market ensues in December to resonate with the Macao Light Festival, themed around the artistry of light. In harmony with the characteristic of Macao Science Center as a leisure recreational facility for families and kids, the Light Carnival features 40 stalls as well as decorations themed after the Macao Light Festival, 3D installations for check-in on social media, games, interactive flash fun, light-themed artistic DIY experience and Sino-Portuguese cultural and artistic performances, among other elements. The activity is organized to foster community tourism and economic development.

A kick-off ceremony was held to unveil the Light Carnival at Macao Science Center today (4 December). MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Lau Wai Meng, Coordinator of the Supporting Office to the Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, Teresa Mok, Head of Department for Promoting Cultural and Creative Industries of Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ho Hong Pan, and Chairman of Macao Borderless Youth Association, Chio Song Hou, officiated the kick-off ceremony.

Senna Fernandes expressed in her speech that the Light Carnival coincides with the grand opening of the Macao Light Festival as well as the anticipated new extravaganza of the Light up Macao Drone Gala. All together manifest the mesmerizing charm of diverse mega events offered by the destination. She hopes that more mega events will be successively held to deliver a greater synergy. At the same time, MGTO continues to roll out promotional initiatives online and offline to promote Macao as a safe and quality destination among visitors.

The Tour Macao FUN Fair — “Light Carnival” Themed Market is organized by Macao Borderless Youth Association, jointly organized by Macao Government Tourism Office, and co-organized by Economic and Technological Development Bureau, Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the Supporting Office to the Permanent Secretariat to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries as well as Cultural Affairs Bureau.
