“Incubation Plan for Macao’s KOL in Tourism” will open for applications from 24 June onwards
With the aim of encouraging Macao residents and travel trade to leverage social networks to spotlight Macao as a wonderful destination with diverse travel experiences to offer, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launches the “Incubation Plan for Macao’s KOL in Tourism”. The Plan encompasses a talent sharing session, content creation training camp and camp trainee video competition. Interested individuals are welcome to submit applications for the talent sharing session and training camp starting from 12 p.m. tomorrow (24 June).
The “Incubation Plan for Macao’s KOL in Tourism” (referred to as the “Plan”) is organized by MGTO and coordinated by Macau Live Streaming Association. The Plan aims to cultivate talented creators of social media content on cultural tourism and inspire Macao residents and members of the local travel trade to give play to their creativity in promoting the destination on social media, which may draw more visitations to Macao and spur local tourism and economic revival.
A kick-off ceremony for the Plan will be held at the 9th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (“MITE”) on 11 July. The talent sharing session themed as “The Secret of ‘PQ Cuisine” — Douyin Account with over 10M Followers” will take place on the same occasion. A famous gastronomic KOL from the Mainland is invited to share his marketing experience through short videos and live streaming. Interested individuals can sign up for the talent sharing session from tomorrow (24 June), with limited quotas available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The highlights of this Plan include the content creation training camp and the camp trainee video competition. The training camp will be conducted at the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre on 7, 8, 21 and 22 August. Professionals from the Mainland network company named Miracle·Top and the Macau Live Streaming Association will be instructors at the camp. From basic knowledge to advanced skills, the instructors will share with trainees an introduction to Douyin and know-how of gaining fans, to enhance their skills of short video production and promotion. Trainees who achieve 75% of attendance are eligible for joining the video competition. Contestants can produce and release two short videos on Douyin between 15 August and 6 September. The judging criteria include the following two categories — platform data and assessment of the judging panel. Judged on their entries’ level of popularity, relevance to the theme, creativity, filming skills and other aspects, ten outstanding creators will be designated as “Macao Travel KOL” and awarded an honorary certificate of “Outstanding Content Creators on Tourism” by MGTO. The list of awardees will be unveiled on 27 September, the World Tourism Day.
The content creation training camp opens to Macao residents aged 18 and above, while tourism industry professionals (especially tour guides) are preferred. The application period starts from 24 June until 23 July. No fee is required. The camp will be held for 50 participants in total. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, lots will be cast to decide the list of participants. Applicants can check out the result of lots on MGTO’s website https://www.macaotourism.gov.mo on 28 July.
All the physical activities will be operated in strict compliance with Health Bureau’s guidelines on pandemic prevention. Participants are required to wear masks throughout the activities, have the temperature checked and present valid Macao Health Code in Green Color on the days of the activities.
